Detailed Itinerary
 
Day 1     Fly Delhi to Leh 3500 meters
We take the early morning flight from Delhi to Leh, the capital of Ladakh, where you will be free to rest at the hotel, gently stroll through the town maze of narrow lane ways or visit the colourful market, while your body acclimatises to the altitude.

Day 2      In Leh 3500 meters
Today, we begin with 15th century Thiksey 15th monastery is noted for its resemblance to the Potala Palace (the former chief residence of the Dali lama in Tibet). It contains a vast array of Buddhist arts, including the 15 meter Maitreya (future Buddha), the largest statue of its kind in Ladakh.

The Hemis monastery, Ladakh biggest and wealthiest 17th century monastery possesses a rich collection of ancient relics and artwork, including a stunning Thangka (embroidered Tibetan silk religious painting) measuring more than 12m. The popular annual Hemis Festival, held in June or July, which features colourful mask dances.

Day 3       Drive to Rumtse 80km and trek to Kyamar
Rumtse 4095 meters is a small village located near the Leh¬¬ - Manali highway, just before Taklang-la pass, approximately 80km drive from Leh. The road to Rumtse has wonderful landscape especially the colourful mountains around Gya village. Start the day by walking towards the north-eastern side through Tourist Bungalow leaving the main road on the right hand side. The trail leads you in the same direction, which enters a valley after crossing two rivers. A discarded small rough road goes almost till Kyamar 4383 meters crossing the same streams several times. Finally after four hours of walking, you will reach the shepherds camp. The camping sites nearby, which is an open area.

Day 4      Trek to Tisaling 4800 meters 
This day will involve crossing two high passes and it is an experience in itself to sleep at the camp, which is situated at 4200m. Ascend to Kyamar-la 4870 meters, after some time walking as you leave your camp site. Initial stage of the climb is rather easier than the last part. The trail divides into different routes from top of the pass. The opposite of a small valley take you towards east and the tough ascend takes you to Mandalchanla pass 4996 meters. Continue walking at the same height through the trail and after sometimes you will see the big camping ground of Tisaling below the pass.

Day 5      Trek to Pangunagu Tsokar
Shibuk-la pass 5016 meter, the hill side to the eastern side is not very hard to climb. Although descend to the Tsokar Lake 4398 meter is gentle, but it is a very long way through the valley and the desert. You can have the view of the Tsokar Lake from the the pass. Tonight camp site is near the Lake at Pangunagu.

Day 6     Trek to Nuru-chan 4500 meters
Walking from Pangunagu to Nuru-chan is easy along the Lake, because of the flat ground. You can walk slowly while enjoying watching birds and the view of the Lake. Nuru-chan is on the eastern part of the Lake with a few small houses and wheat and barley fields. The camp near the river is excellent in the summer with beautiful flower and crystal clear water.

Day 7     In Nuru-chan 4500 meters
Today you have an optional day to rest or explore nearby the campsite.
 
Day 8      Trek to Rachungkaru 4668 meters
The trek starts with a beautiful Mani wall covered with nicely engraved mantra of Om Mani Padme Hum the mantra of Buddha of compassion, Avaloketeshvara. The forward ascend to the pass takes around 1 hour 30 minutes. From Horlamkongka-la 4900 meters pass the trial leads you toward the north with an easy descend. After crossing the river climb another small pass to reach Gyama Lhoma. The view of a group of peaks from here is excellent. The effortless descend takes you to the wide valley. You need to cross two rivers to reach the campsite. In the month of July you would also find a few nomad camps in this area.

Day 9      Trek to Gyamalhoma 4985 meters
We start climbing the Kyamayur-la pass 5125 meters, which takes around 2hrs of average speed. The last climb is the tiring one. Afterwards the pass trail leads towards northeast at the end of the valley, here it starts ascending another small pass called Gyami-la pass 5100 meters. You can have view a group of peaks from the top, walk down towards northeast and cross the stream you will reach Gyamathoma. But is reached after another stream crossing which is also a base for Yalangyugu-la pass.

Day 10     Trek to Tsomoriri Lake 4500 meters
The uncomplicated ascend to Yalangyugu-la pass 5100m along the stream is easy, but take very long to reach the pass. You can enjoy amazing views of Tsomoriri Lake from the pass; you can have better view from the top of left side hill. The steep descend with a zigzag trail is very strenuous. As soon as you go down you reach pasture land of Korzok village, where you can find a few nomad camps. Continue walking along the river and finally you are at Korzok village, near the Tsomoriri Lake.

Day 11     In Tsomoriri Lake 4500 meters
Today you have a free to explore around the beautiful Tsomoriri Lake and Korzok village (semi nomadic life style) where you can visit a monastery.

Day 12     Drive to Leh
We are heading back to Leh, via Mahe Bridge on the Indus River.
Distance: 220km/ 6-7hrs

In the morning short drive to Leh airport to catch the flight to Delhi. (trip concludes)
